This sculptural ceramic vase features a classic mid-century bottle silhouette with a gracefully elongated neck and rounded body. The form is finished in a layered glaze treatment: a glossy black neck transitions into a subtly textured speckled band before giving way to a cream-colored lower body impressed with a delicate grid pattern. The combination of matte texture and glossy glaze creates visual depth while maintaining a restrained, neutral palette.
Produced in Italy during the mid-20th century (c. 1960-1970s), the piece reflects the modernist ceramic traditions of the Montelupo/Florentine region, where workshops experimented with texture, form, and earthy glazes for export to the international design market. An impressed mold number (342 / 3) is visible on the base, consistent with factory production of the period. Albeit unsigned, it appears to be in the style of Marcello Fantoni.
At 15 inches tall, the vase has strong architectural presence and works beautifully with tall stems, branches, or minimalist floral arrangements. Its balanced proportions and understated tones allow it to complement both contemporary and vintage table settings.
A versatile statement vessel in the Backyard Stagecraft collection, suitable for ceremony installations, reception tables, or interior staging.
